Artist Biography
Kayleigh Brooks is an emerging artist from Wisbech. Her work explores the instability of human contact and loneliness through large scale text works and figurative paintings. Her current work draws on sex, substance abuse and human touch. Brooks explores how we romanticise what we cannot quite reach and how fleeting moments become fragmented memories. Her oil paintings show how human contact can be tender as-well as compulsive, transactional, destructive or performative. Contact can offer closeness while simultaneously creating distance. This instability is how the work manifests itself into reconstructed encounters whether they are romanticised or distorted.
